Overview : Staff housing for a non-profit camp
The cottages at the Frio River Canyon were renovated for the H.E. Butt Foundation with a dream to host families for many generations to come. With preservation at the core of the project, we were committed to maintaining the original character while executing the reconceptualized function of these buildings.
The living areas were designed as an all-encompassed open plan, a perfectly suited environment for spending quality time. Note that the interior framework tastefully invites the outdoors in - it felt significant to celebrate the site and encourage guests to embrace the nature surrounding them. Simplicity and functionality remained front of mind throughout the design process. The materials, fixtures and finishes were intentionally sourced to withstand the passing of time.
